Notice: the ICE Online Store and Office will open for limited services July 12, 2021.

The ICE office and Online Store will be remain closed until July 11, 2021.

Due to building construction and limited staff the ICE office will remain closed through July 11. There will be no summer Fun With Chemistry Camps this year. The ICE Online Store will reopen on July 12, but only for limited service because of the restricted access to our facilities. From July 12-30 ICE will process and ship SMALL orders once a week to domestic locations only. We will aim for a processing time of 5-10 business days from receipt of order to shipping, operating within the constraints of very limited access. If you have questions, please contact us by email at iceorders@chem.wisc.edu. We will check and respond to emails twice a week during the summer. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through a partial re-opening.

Super Science Connections: Integrated Activities for Grades K–3 (SSC) was designed to help elementary school teachers who have little science background integrate hands-on science activities into a typical K–3 curriculum. It was written by K–3 teachers, for K–3 teachers. SSC consists of seven sections, each of which is available separately for download. The Super Science Connections print version remains available through the ICE Online Store.

ICE Devices: Constructing Inexpensive Classroom & Lab Tools

ICE Devices contains instructions for building 10 science teaching tools as well as background information about soldering; all are low cost and made with easy-to-find materials. With ICE Devices students can learn from making a device as well as by using it to demonstrate a chemical principle. For example, the BB Board can be used to demonstrate annealing, hardening, and tempering of metals; the neon lamp cord demonstrates the chemistry of vision; the chromatography simulator illustrates size-exclusion column chromatography. Each of the 10 devices is available separately for download. Available online only.
