Notice: the ICE Office will be closed through Monday, July 13th.

Due to UW-Madison campus access restrictions the ICE office will remain closed through July 13. The ICE Online Store will reopen on July 13 but only for limited service because of the restricted access to our facilities. Beginning July 13 ICE will process and ship SMALL orders once a week. We will aim for a processing time of 5-10 business days from receipt of order to shipping, operating within the constraints of very limited access. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through a partial re-opening. If you have questions, please contact us by email at iceorders@chem.wisc.edu. We will try to respond within 48 hours.

Virtual Summer Chemistry Camps 2020

Because we can’t offer in-person Camps this year, ICE has adapted some of the activities done in Chemistry Camps so children can do them using materials commonly found around the home. We would like to hear from you about your experience with our virtual chemistry camps. Email us at chemcamps@chem.wisc.edu to let us know how the virtual camps went for you.

Activities for Children Entering Grades K through 4

Activities for Children Entering Grades 5 through 8

Grades K through 4

The activities below are suitable for virtual campers entering grades K through 4, although older siblings (or even parents!) can join in or watch. These activities need an older person (parent or sibling) to mentor participants and perhaps read the activity to children who are not yet readers. Children entering grades 3 and 4 will need less supervision. These activities are adapted from ICE’s Super Science Connections science program for K-3 teachers.
